ABOUT

Memphis-born country singer Maddye (rhymes with “caddy”) Trew has been performing since she was a little girl. A graduate of Belmont University in Nashville with a Bachelor of Arts in commercial music, it was only a few years ago that she finished college with a dream, a love of country music, and a desire to get her music out into the world.

Now, she is “comin’ in hot” with a new single, “Your Song.” Written by Trew and her friend and co-writer Emma Rowley, the song stems from a phone conversation between the two ladies about a wayward boy that treated Maddye, let’s say, poorly.

“I was just rattling on to Emma about him, and she was like …’Wait! Slow down. You’re talking in lyrics right now. Let me write this down!’ It didn’t take long before the song had pretty much written itself. It’s a favorite now…and my mom even made me a guitar strap with the lyrics engraved on it. I wear it every night; it’s like I’m getting a little hug!”

This new release follows 2023’s “Long Gone John,” which would also become her first music video to debut on Country Music Television (CMT). Written by Trew, along with co-writers Troy Castellano and ACM-nominated keyboardist Jeff McMahon, the song chronicles the late-night bonding of girlfriends as they band together in support of one another … as only girls can do.

Trew took the video one step further with her playful nod to the Pink Ladies of Grease, stepping back in time to capture the spirit made so memorable in the song “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee” from the film. “Yeah, they weren’t all nice to Sandy in the beginning, and I’m Sandy,” says Maddye. “But in the end, they were all looking out for each other. And that’s how I want it to be.”

She capped off the release of “Long Gone John” with its official television debut, performing it along with the more traditional “Dear Loretta,” another of her releases which pays tribute to the legendary Loretta Lynn and acknowledges the path made possible through Lynn’s music on the nationally syndicated Jimmy Bowen & Friends show in April of 2023.

With now five songs available to a growing fan base, Maddye’s pop versatility balances gracefully with her appreciation for the classics that have preceded her. Her debut release, “Only Sometimes,” leans more to the pop side of country while exploring the balancing act of relationships and individual dreams. She plucks her traditional heartstrings with “That’s the Lonely Talkin’,” which has caught the notice of Brady Seals, hitmaker both with the legendary band Little Texas and as a solo artist. “It’s nice to hear a good waltz and some real country music these days,” offers Seals. “Maddye’s voice is authentic and sincere.”

Mix in her birthday debut at the legendary Bluebird Café, an attention-getting featured performance of her cover of Patty Loveless’ “Chains” with Country Rebel (which has exceeded 163k views), and recent opening slots for Justin Moore, John Schneider, and Big & Rich … and it’s hard to argue that Maddye has come a long way since her trip to Hollywood as a 2014 American Idol Hollywood contestant while still in high school.

The light is starting to shine on Maddye Trew... and it’s only getting brighter!
