“REMEMBERING LAUREN”
My name is Maddye Trew and I’m a country singer/songwriter in Nashville, TN. I was born and raised in Memphis, home of “the Blues” and a special organization that has become a part of my story - St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Seven years ago, my family friends lost a daughter and a sister to osteosarcoma.
Her name was Lauren Elisabeth Moody. Lauren was younger than me, but our moms were best friends and worked together at our school. As the only girls in a mix of brothers, Lauren and I stuck together in their office after school, on pool days at my house, and even on our joint family beach trips.
Me and my small town were devastated, so now we come together every year to lift up the Moodys and honor Lauren’s memory by wearing the color purple and running in the St. Jude Marathon as Team Lauren.
